Software-update: i.Scribe 1.88

i.Scribe is een compact en overzichtelijk e-mailprogramma met een contactpersonenlijst en kalenderfunctionaliteit. Het is niet nodig om het programma te installeren en werkt daarom probleemloos vanaf een usb-stick. Het programma heeft een ingebouwde bayesian spam filter en ondersteuning voor meerdere talen waaronder het Nederlands. De ontwikkelaar heeft versie 1.88 onlangs op de wereld gezet na het uitgeven van 15 testversies. De volledige lijst met veranderingen is helaas te lang om hier te vermelden daarom laten we alleen de laatste wijzigingen zien:

Post Release Crazies:

• Applied the ongoing fixes in IMAP(full).
• Fixed the first element in the reply/forward formatting being ignored.
• Fixed being able to open multiple editboxes in the Contact window's email list and the Calendar's todo list. This would lead to a hang or crash.
• Added a Swedish translation, updated the German.

Final Changes:

• Added a logging mechanism to the user defined filters feature. This outputs a debug log to 'FilterLog.txt' in the Scribe folder. Useful for debugging whats going on during filtering.
• Contact folder that have read/write permissions set no longer cause Scribe to continually ask for a password during startup. These folders are now silently ignored until you log in.
• Fixed Bug #57: Can't set calendar start/end to midday when 24hr time format is selected.
• Fixed problems writing mail to IMAP folders, esp Groupware public folders.
• Changed the behaviour of the "Send" button on the mail window when the message has been created for a groupware public folder so that the message is not sent out over SMTP but saved into the public folder instead. A flag is now available to the message code indicating whether the message is in a public folder or a normal folder.
• Fixed deleted messages reappearing when reselecting IMAP(full) folders.
• Fixed not being able to delete IMAP(full) messages created in this session.
• Fixed some of the issues when printing the calendar in month mode. It now honours the page setup borders, prints full page, scales the title font correctly and draws wider (visible) borders on each cell.
• Fixed processing of untagged IMAP(full) messages from the server so that deletes, expunges and new messages are propagated to the client correctly. (May not be perfect yet, there is always "something else")
• Replies to messages in public folders now get written to the folder instead of sent across SMTP (to nowhere).
• The IMAP folder properties is now correctly parented so you can't lose it behind the main window.
• Added Content-Disposition headers to attachments.

Nadat ik zag dat het ook voor Linux beschikbaar was werd toch mijn nieuwsgierigheid geprikkeld en heb ik het programma binnengehaald en geprobeerd.
Het start snel en is mooi duidelijk Nederlands maar soms worden woorden niet helemaal weergegeven bij mij.

Ik heb iemand een e-mail laten versturen met een plaatje en dat werd netjes weergegeven.
Wel had ik een crash toen ik die mail als spam aanmeldde en er geen spam map was en het programma die wilde aanmaken.
Wat mij wel beviel was het adresboek wat simpel werkt en ook mooi de informatie van de personen in je adresboek laat zien gelijk bij het selecteren van een naam.

Wat wel een beetje simpel aan doet is de agenda functie maar dat komt ook omdat ik maar even 10 minuten met het programma bezig ben geweest.
Ook iets wat tegenviel was het importeren van het adresboek van Thunderbird de optie is er wel maar werkte niet bij mij. Wat verder lastig is in te stellen is meerdere account maar kan ook zo zijn dat ik mij er wat meer in moet verdiepen.

Maar alles bij elkaar wel een programma waar je makkelijk en snel mee kan werken. En hoewel Thunderbird mijn voorkeur heeft is dit wel eentje die ik in de gaten ga houden want eigenlijk doet het alles waar het voor bedoeld is en dat is mobiel e-mail makkelijk maken.

*UPDATE* Ik heb ook gevonden waarom je maar 1 account kan instellen. Het was dus gewoon mijn fout ik heb de website niet goed doorgelezen...
