De ontwikkelaars van Xoops, kort voor eXtensible Object Oriented Portal System, hebben een nieuwe versie de deur uitgedaan en hier het versienummer 2.2.3 aan meegegeven. Deze applicatie is geschreven in PHP en maakt gebruik van MySQL om de nodige data op te slaan. Xoops is een CMS die voor een groot aantal doeleinden kan worden ingezet, zoals een weblog, portal of internetwinkel. Door gebruik te maken van modules is Xoops aan te passen aan je persoonlijke voorkeuren. De meegeleverde aankondiging ziet er als volgt uit:
The road to XOOPS 2.2.3 has been long and hard and has not been a very comfortable ride. The early releases were rushed, not tested enough and left the XOOPS community in distress as to what they could expect of a XOOPS release. We have remedied this with the release of XOOPS 2.2.3 Final. This release has been carefully preceded by two RC snapshot processes where functional bugs were found and fixed.
During the day, a number of people have reported problems when upgrading from XOOPS 2.0.x to 2.2.3 Final. This was caused by a faulty update routine which has now been fixed. I have updated the 2.0.13.1 to 2.2.3 Final patch and 2.2.3 Final full package as well as the 2.2 to 2.2.3 Final update patch - just to be on the safe side. They now have a "2.2.3a-Final" in the filename. The version has not been incremented inside the package as this had only to do with the update routines and not the actual core files.
