Xfire is voorzien van een update naar versie 1.51. Dit programma is bedoeld voor fanatieke gamers en stelt hen in staat te chatten met anderen, zowel binnen als buiten spellen, kan men eenvoudig in welk spel de mensen op de contactlijst aan het spelen zijn en kan men zichzelf vervolgens eenvoudig aan dat spel toevoegen. Ook kan Xfire helpen bij het vinden van een snelle gameserver met nog vrije plaatsen, kunnen gamepatches en demo's via een eigen P2P-netwerk worden binnengehaald en is er de mogelijkheid tot voicechat. Op dit moment worden er bijna 500 spellen herkend, waarvan zo'n 150 spellen 'one-click join' en 250 'in-game chat' ondersteunen. Het changelog van deze release laat de volgende veranderingen zien:

- Added the ability to send a file directly to your friend using the Actions | Send File menu item on chat windows, if you have compatible firewalls. There is no file size limit. We will continue to enhance this feature in future updates.
