I do not understand what you mean by "But Dutch pages generally stay in Dutch circles". The internet is international! Yes? So how do Tweakers publications stay in "Dutch circles"? Hold on. Is Tweakers not targeted at the Belgian audience or German audience? I have noticed that there has been mention of products sourced from Germany. I do not understand why Tweakers would want to limit itself to audiences in the Netherlands or Belgium.

Your example of an Aliexpress translation is in Dutch. Is that how you expect it to present to me? If so, as I learnt Afrikaans as a 2nd language at school, please show me the errors in the Aliexpress translation. Have not ever concerned myself with alternative browsers. Google translate seems to be "evolving" satisfactorily for me. Are you taking in to account that Chinese is based on the Chinese customs and, thus, translations from Chinese to Dutch may be skewed by the influence of the culture?

I admit that I find this discussion interesting because it also presents a view of your perspective on the importance of Dutch in comparison to other languages. To me the fact that we are communicating is important and, certainly, from my perspective we, I hope, are doing so in our mother tongues with the translation being carried out when we open each others message. Not so certain that I am communicating my message as I hope to. Part of that is under the control of the translation at your end. Did you "celebrate" Hallowe'en?

Yes the target audience of Tweakers is the Dutch speaking region in Europe, so NL + part of BE. Not Germany, they pretty much have their own little world. Language is a barrier. Even though there are auto translation options, they're not perfect, so as a company you can't rely on that and you would have to do your own proper translations or at least go over auto translations and correct errors if you want to target a more international audience. Which makes it more expensive, whether that would actually get you more revenue if you went that route is imo unlikely as there is plenty of wel established competition already and you could end up alienating your homefront. I mean it would be ok/doable for things like the forum but the pricewatch/vraag&aanbod would be rather pointless as it's not like you're going to get the best deals ordering from NL if you're outside of the region, shipping really jumps up crossing borders (not to mention VAT of 21%). Getting stuff from Germany can be a little cheaper so there is some 'sourcing' in that regard.

Most of the stuff on aliexpress is English based and translated from that to other languages. But I was thinking more of the reviews that are posted in all kinds of languages.

You see that sort of thing often enough so yeah again auto translate is too unreliable to use for detail rich sites like tweakers for instance.

Nope I've simply been responding in English.

Halloween, not really a thing here. Sure Halloween stuff is gaining popularity but at the same time there are other similar things already. For the dress-up part we have carnaval and for kids and candy locally at least there is this thing called "Sintermerte" (Sint Maarten). That said there are kids nowadays that do try and go trick or treating but I for one am not amused if they do.
