The details of the game itself have always been exciting. True enough, the Quake 3 Arena information I've been privy to is technically far superior to what Daikatana will have at its core, but the technical stuff is impressive nonetheless. As well as the Quake II engine, or, to be more specific, KatanaED, a modified version of the one licensed from id Software, Microsoft Visual C++ and Microsoft Developer are being used to do the coding while the graphics are done in Lightwave and Adobe Photoshop. The engine has been enhanced with regards to the different player classes employed by the game, the points system and the enhanced AI. Your graphics accelerators will be kept very busy indeed with rotating objects, translucency, rain, snow and other weather effects, radiosity lighting and coloured lighting. But this is not all. The engine also has brains as well as brawn in that it can keep track of your position and give you hints if you get yourself lost in the vast levels, and in multiplayer it can generate random respawn points and do Autodownloads.
