We are looking for a

Product developer

(Full-time 37.5 hours)

You develop the products that will soon be in supermarkets.

Spice blends, sauces, meal components and technical solutions for the food industry. You work on all types of developments! As a product developer at Verstegen, you give taste to new products. You translate ideas into recipes that are not only delicious, but also producible, shelf-stable, and ready for the market.

You are literally in the development kitchen, experimenting with ingredients and flavors and collaborating with other departments on products that will ultimately be eaten by thousands of consumers. Every request is different, which makes your work varied, creative, and challenging.

About the team:

You will be joining Verstegen's R&D team. An enthusiastic team of approximately 23 colleagues who work daily on the development of new products and flavor concepts. There is a lot of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team. You will interact daily with colleagues from product management, sales, quality, purchasing, and operations. The atmosphere is informal, professional, and entrepreneurial. There is ample room to test ideas and further develop yourself as a product specialist.

What are you going to do?

As a Product Developer, you will work on diverse development projects for both our own brands and private labels, and on customer-focused solutions for the food industry. You translate customer demands and market developments into innovative products that meet the highest quality standards. You are involved from the initial idea right through to final implementation in production. You combine creativity with knowledge of food technology and know exactly how to translate a good idea into a product that can be mass-produced. Your responsibilities include:

Developing new spice blends, sauces, marinades, and other flavor solutions.

Conceiving, testing, and optimizing recipes.

Performing trial productions and taste tests in our development kitchen.

Contributing to production processes and ensuring that new products are not only delicious, but can also be produced efficiently and reproducibly.

Assessing the structure, taste, shelf life, and processability of products.

Advising Product Management and

Sales on ingredients, applications and technical possibilities.

Capturing recipes, specifications, and project data.

Monitoring developments in the field of ingredients, laws and regulations, and food safety.

What do you bring to the table?

You are curious, creative, and have a great passion for food. You enjoy developing new flavors and are energized by conceiving products that eventually make it to supermarkets or foodservice. You are also interested in production processes and want to understand how a good idea is translated into a product that can be mass-produced.

In addition, you possess:

● A completed HBO (higher vocational education) degree in Food Technology, Food Innovation, or a similar field.

● Preferably several years of experience as a product developer or Food Technologist within the food industry.

● We also warmly invite starters with the right motivation and passion for product development to apply.

● Proficiency in Dutch and English.

● An affinity for cooking, flavor development, and product innovation.

● Knowledge of ingredients, recipes, and food production processes.

● An analytical and structured way of working.

You don't need years of experience with herbs and spices. We are happy to teach you that knowledge. We find it more important that you understand how product development works within the food industry and that you are enthusiastic about creating new flavors.

● A gross monthly salary between €3,640 and €5,435, depending on your knowledge and experience.
