Ikea goes Micropython – how to hack your desk light

In this talk, Trammell Hudson shows how to take ownership of your smart home's Ikea light bulbs by voiding the warranty and replacing the firmware with an open source Zigbee stack written in MicroPython. The best part about open firmware is being able to add features for your specific needs. The second best part is when it breaks you get to keep both pieces.
