Converting a 20-year-old train ticket vending machine into a modern web app

The ticket vending machines at Dutch train stations are almost 20 years old. Creating modern layouts for them is a pain. Things really would be much simpler if we could use a web browser plus a web application like Angular. But how could we achieve that? In this talk I will show you how we solved this challenge. I’ll tell you all about how we were able to maintain the original layouts, while improving accessibility and testing. Little spoiler: open standards were part of the solution.
