Presentation

A Vision on Woundcare
It is distressing to see that wound care in the Netherlands is not (yet) optimal due to bottlenecks in the process of communication and registration. It is estimated that up to 500.000 patients a year suffer from chronic wounds and/or skin conditions, from which many suffer from pain and discomfort for too long (weeks or months!). We are working on integrating an innovative woundcare platform with the electronic health record. An essential part of this platform will be an camera application that can be used by everybody with an mobile phone. This application will be enhanced with a computer vision algorithm that can detect the wound, calculate the wound area, estimate the colour ratio and thus create a way of more standardised reporting which actually can be used to influence the care received by the patient and enhance the communication in the multi-disciplinary care chain.
