Jouw rol als Polymer Expert / Supervisor Application Lab

In deze functie geef je leiding aan de nieuwe Application Lab-afdeling, die jij mede gaat opzetten en vormgeven. Je combineert inhoudelijke polymeer expertise met leiderschap en ontwikkelt testmethodes om toepassingen van onze producten beter te begrijpen en af te stemmen op de klantvraag.

Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het plannen, coördineren en uitvoeren van testactiviteiten (in-house of extern), en zorgt voor optimale resultaten op het gebied van kwaliteit, veiligheid en performance. Je werkt nauw samen met collega’s van Business Development, Sales, QC, R&D én indien nodig externe laboratoria.

Wat ga je doen?

• Aansturen en uitbouwen van de Application Lab-afdeling en leidinggeven aan een startend team.
• Karakterisering van polymeer-eind eigenschappen, zoals thermische, mechanische en optische eigenschappen.
• Vertalen van lab resultaten naar klantgerichte toepassingen en het ondersteunen van het salesteam.
• Vertalen van onderzoeksresultaten naar producteisen/verbeteringen en de interne stakeholders (R&D, QC, productie) hierover adviseren.
• Opzetten en valideren van analysemethoden en prestatiecriteria.
• Coördineren van labprojecten en toezien op veiligheid en tijdige oplevering.

Wat breng jij mee?

• Een BSc of MSc of PhD in polymeerchemie, materiaalkunde of aanverwant vakgebied.
• Minimaal 3 jaar ervaring met polymeer karakterisatie en toepassingsgericht onderzoek.
• Leidinggevende ervaring in het vakgebied.

Daarnaast herken jij jezelf in:

• Ervaring met productontwikkeling en de vertaalslag naar productie of commerciële toepassingen.
• Diepgaande kennis van structuur-eigenschap-relatie in polymeren.
• Aantoonbare ervaring met cross-functioneel samenwerken en klantcontact.
• Vaardigheid in probleemoplossing en datagedreven analyses
• Goede communicatieve vaardigheden, zowel schriftelijk als mondeling in het Engels. Je bent bereid om Nederlands te leren.
• Een proactieve, besluitvaardige instelling met oog voor samenwerking en kwaliteit.
• Bereidheid om je in Noord-Nederland te vestigen en te reizen indien nodig.

Your role as Polymer Expert / Application Lab Supervisor

In this role, you will lead the new Application Lab department, which you will help establish and shape. You will combine substantive polymer expertise with leadership and develop test methods to better understand and align our product applications with customer needs.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing testing activities (in-house or external), ensuring optimal results in terms of quality, safety, and performance. You will work closely with colleagues from Business Development, Sales, QC, R&D, and external laboratories when needed.

What will you do?

• Managing and expanding the Application Lab department and leading a start-up team.
• Characterization of polymer end-properties, such as thermal, mechanical and optical properties.
• Translating lab results into customer-focused applications and supporting the sales team.
• Translating measurement results into product requirements/improvement and advising internal stakeholders (R&D, QC, production).
• Developing and validating analysis methods and performance criteria.
• Coordinating lab projects and ensuring safety and timely delivery.

What do you bring to the table?

• An BSc, MSc or PhD in polymer chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with polymer characterization and application-oriented research.
• Management experience in the field.

You also recognize yourself in:

• Experience with product development and its translation into production or commercial applications.
• In-depth knowledge of structure-property relationship in polymers.
• Demonstrable experience with cross-functional collaboration and customer contact.
• Proficiency in problem-solving and data-driven analysis.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English. You are willing to learn Dutch.
• A proactive, decisive attitude with an eye for collaboration and quality.
• Willingness to base yourself in the Northern Netherlands and travel as needed.
