Pax8 are looking for a talented Senior Back-End Engineer to join the team in our Zwolle office. What you will be doing as our Senior Back-End Engineer:

• Build world class software that makes a real difference - design, develop, test, and continuously improve impactful solutions
• Be a key player in an agile, collaborative team, actively shaping the future in planning, refinement, and strategy sessions
• Elevate others through mentorship, sharing your expertise to grow the team’s capabilities and design excellence
• Lead with innovation, not just maintenance - bring creative ideas and enhancements to the products you help build, ensuring continuous improvement and value delivery
• Be part of an AI driven engineering culture, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance development, optimise systems, and drive smarter solutions
• Own what you build, taking responsibility through on call rotations for the apps your team creates - supported by a strong focus on reliability and minimal incident response
• Enjoy flexible releases, working in two week sprints with no rigid release cycles - allowing fast iteration and smart delivery timing

What we are looking for from our Senior Back-End Engineer:

• Substantial software development experience
• Ability to show advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language - specifically Java and/or Kotlin
• Advanced experience with one or more of the following languages: Java | Groovy | Kotlin | VueJS | Python
• Advanced experience with one or more of the following frameworks Spring | Spring Boot | JUnit | Mockito | Kotest | Stripe | Kafka | ElasticSearch | Netsuite | Oauth
• Experience with microservices
• Experience writing backlog items – such as translating functional users stories into technical working items
• Effective technical leadership abilities and ability to coach junior developers 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with innovative application design and implementation
• Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said
• Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organisation’s goals
• Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
• Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
• Ability to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development challenges

• Salary: €6,333 - €7,916 per month | €76,000 - €95,000 per year

• Designated Office: Zwolle, Netherlands
• Days: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 36-40 hours per week
• Time: 8:30am – 5pm
