Senior Backend Engineer (PHP)

At Dyflexis, we build the workforce management platform and our software helps managers plan and track 300,000+ workers every day. Now we're scaling across Europe and into the US. That growth needs solid backend engineering behind it.

You'll build the engine behind our platform - designing features that hold up under enterprise traffic, optimizing the paths that can't afford to crack, and partnering closely with Frontend, Product, and Infrastructure to turn business needs into systems that simply work.

In short, this is what you can expect:

• You'll work in focused 6-weeks cycles: a deliberate post-scrum method built for builders. You get time to do things properly: to think, craft and ship.

• You'll earn up to €6.500 per month based on experience, work hybrid (2 days a week at our HQ), and join a bootstrapped company that's profitable and reinvesting heavily in its products and people.

What you'll do

Together with Frontend, Product, and Infrastructure, you'll turn evolving business needs into backend systems that simply work: fast, stable, and reliable, even under pressure.

Reliability doesn't just happen. We design for it. Like us, you care about clean data, resilient systems, and performance that never cracks. Not because anyone will see your code, but because they'll feel it when it fails, and at Dyflexis, that's not an option.

Your day will mix building and refining backend features that handle enterprise traffic, optimizing performance, partnering with DevOps on deployments and incident response, and mentoring engineers who are growing fast. Your core responsibilities are:

• Design features that handle enterprise traffic across regions

• Optimize critical paths for performance and reliability

• Follow patterns for code quality, testing, and readiness

• Partner with DevOps on deployments and monitoring

• Champion operational excellence in engineering decisions

Our current tech stack includes:

Core: PHP (Symfony), MySQL, Redis, Docker

Infrastructure: Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD

What you'll need

You have 5-7 years of experience building backend systems that hold up under real production traffic, and you've had a hand in the architecture decisions behind them. You know PHP intimately, with modern practices and a sharp eye for the trade-offs between consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.

• Solid experience with PHP (Symfony) and relational databases including MySQL, with real query optimization behind you

• You've debugged race conditions that only appeared under load, and optimized databases that were keeling over

• Comfortable with the trade-offs between consistency, availability, and partition tolerance

• You think in systems, not tickets. When someone proposes a feature, you're already mapping failure modes

• Comfortable with ownership: you ship it, you own it, you sleep soundly.
