For our client in Amsterdam, we are looking for a Kotlin Developer AI.

This is what you'll do

You will design, build, and maintain Kotlin-based backend services, APIs, and integrations. You will work on systems powering real-time conversational experiences, including an AI-driven chatbot, and integrate LLM capabilities into production systems. You take ownership from design to deployment and ongoing operation. Additionally, you build reliable integrations with existing systems and ensure consistent data flows. You collaborate with Product Owners, engineers, and stakeholders to turn ideas into working solutions - both for AI-driven and traditional backend initiatives.

You will join a leading retail organisation that is heavily investing in technological innovation. You will be part of an Agile product team in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where scalability, reliability, and maintainability are key priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a backend engineer (5+ years for an exceptionally strong candidate);
• Hands-on experience with Spring / Spring Boot;
• Willingness to work with Python when needed, particularly for AI/LLM-related use cases;
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP;
• Experience building and maintaining APIs, integrations, and backend services;
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases;
• A DevOps mindset: comfortable with CI/CD, deployments, and owning services end to end;
• Experience working in Agile product teams;
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment;
• Comfortable using modern developer tooling such as GitHub Copilot and similar assistants effectively.
