Build the energy platform of tomorrow
Lyv is a fast-growing energy tech company building the digital backbone of the energy transition.
We develop an Energy Management System (EMS) that connects batteries, EV chargers, solar and grid connections in real time.
Since recently, Lyv is part of , one of the largest technical service providers in the Netherlands.
This gives us the best of both worlds: the speed and focus of a tech scale-up, combined with the stability, customers and projects of a large engineering company.
We are now expanding our engineering team to scale our EMS platform across real-world energy infrastructure.
Your role
We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with strong frontend expertise and practical DevOps skills. You will play a key role in building user-facing applications, backend services, and the infrastructure that supports our Energy Management System (EMS). This position is central to delivering reliable, scalable, and intuitive tools that connect devices, optimize energy usage, and provide real-time insights to users and operators.
Your responsibilities
- Build and improve user interfaces with React and TypeScript for EMS dashboards and monitoring tools.
- Develop backend APIs and services in Python to connect optimization algorithms, devices, and real-time data streams.
- Design and maintain cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes and Docker
- Set up and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployments and high development velocity.
- Collaborate with business and sales teams to translate the EMS roadmap into concrete features.
- Ensure security, scalability, and high availability across edge devices, cloud services, and applications.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance improvements.
Your profile
- 3+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python, ideally with FastAPI for API design
- 2+ years of experience building user interfaces with React and TypeScript
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes and Docker
- Hands-on exposure to CI/CD practices and DevOps workflows
- Experience working with relational and time-series databases (PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB)
- Ability to work across the stack and handle frontend, backend, and infrastructure tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver independently in a dynamic environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in the energy industry, especially with EMS, batteries, EV chargers, or renewable integration
- Exposure to IoT or energy-related protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, or OCPP
- Knowledge of real-time data handling and time-series optimizations
- Familiarity with optimization models, forecasting methods, or energy market operations.
- Understanding of cybersecurity practices for distributed systems and critical infrastructure
Additional requirements
- Fluent in English and preferably Dutch
- Authorized to work in the Netherlands.
- Function may be partially remote. Should be able to work at least 2 days a week in the office for a good collaboration with the team.
