Who are you?

You are an investigator and communicator with a focus on sales who is fascinated by the intersection of life sciences and data technology. You enjoy diving into the ecosystems of big pharma and biotech to identify where data challenges exist and who is responsible for solving them, and you try to make the connection between them and The Hyve. You:

  • Are a hunter: You love the puzzle of finding the right stakeholders within complex global organizations and connecting with them.
  • Are technically literate: While you aren't the one building, e.g., the knowledge graphs, you understand the value of "FAIR data," "Semantic Web," "Common Data Models", and "Open Science."
  • Are a strategic communicator: You know how to reach out to a Director of R&D or a Head of Data Science with a message that is respectful, relevant, and insightful.
  • Are goal-oriented: You get a kick out of turning a cold lead into a warm introduction for our Solution Consultants.
  • Care about the mission: You want to contribute to the advancement of biomedical science and healthcare through open-source and open-data principles.

Who are we?

The Hyve is an international boutique Bio-IT company, employing data specialists and software engineers. We are the data & informatics service provider for life science organizations looking to align the data infrastructure with their research needs. We enable open science by developing and implementing open-source solutions and FAIRifying data in life sciences.

Our targets are in pharmaceutical companies (R&D, Health Informatics, Clinical Development, HEOR), but also Clinical Research Organizations, academic hospitals, research universities and non-profit organizations.

Your responsibilities

  • Research and identify key companies and the specific decision-makers (in R&D, Pharma, Clinical, or IT) who need The Hyve's expertise.
  • Conduct thorough research using LinkedIn, annual reports, and scientific publications to understand a company's specific data challenges before reaching out.
  • Execute consistent outbound outreach through LinkedIn, personalized emails, and social selling to introduce The Hyve's services and schedule introductory meetings for our Solutions Consultants team.
  • Conduct the first stage of outreach to gather key information, ensuring that prospects have a genuine need for our data solutions before moving them through the pipeline.
  • Work closely with the Solutions Consultants team to implement effective lead-generation strategies and ensure the CRM is always updated with fresh, accurate data.
  • Stay curious about industry trends like Agentic AI and FAIR data to help sharpen your outreach and better understand the needs of R&D professionals.

Must have

  • Self-motivated, resilient, and eager to learn with a strong desire to grow a career in sales
  • Experience in inbound/outbound prospecting or sales development, preferably in technology or B2B sales
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies like SPIN, MEDDICC or similar qualification frameworks.
  • The ability to navigate LinkedIn, annual reports, and scientific publications to find the right "targets."
  • The ability to write personalized, high-conversion outreach that stands out in a crowded inbox.
  • A basic understanding of and strong interest in clinical, biology, or pharma R&D data.
  • The resilience to handle the "no's" and the creativity to find a new way in.
  • A collaborative spirit focused on "shared ownership" of the sales pipeline.
  • Based in or willing to move to the Netherlands; we work from our Utrecht office at least two days a week.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with CRM tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Podio, ZoomInfo, and sales engagement platforms is a plus
  • Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or specialized sales AI) for prospecting and research
  • A background in Life Sciences (Biology, Bioinformatics, or similar)
  • Experience with "Social Selling" techniques.
