IT Director

We're looking for an IT Director for a mid-sized fintech company. Your main mission is to lead the IT department and improve the reliability and reusability of the IT landscape.

The IT Director leads the company’s internal technology function and is responsible for the performance, reliability and security of all IT infrastructure, systems and operations. The position covers technology strategy, enterprise architecture, systems implementation and IT governance. You ensure that the organisation’s technology environment is robust, scalable and supports long-term business goals.

Responsibilities:

Technology strategy • Maintain, refine and execute a company-wide IT strategy. • Define the enterprise architecture roadmap and determine where to buy, build or partner. • Drive initiatives that increase operational efficiency and strengthen the competitive position. • Identify and implement opportunities for technological innovation.

Infrastructure management • Ensure the scalability, reliability, performance and security of all IT systems. • Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure such as networks, servers, storage and cloud environments.

Systems development • Lead the implementation of applications, platforms and tools. • Oversee software development. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and set priorities.

Cybersecurity and compliance • Establish and enforce cybersecurity policies, processes and controls. • Ensure compliance with relevant IT and security standards.

Leadership • Lead, develop and manage the IT team, including hiring, coaching and performance management. • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Vendor management • Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers. • Oversee the roadmap and development work carried out by external partners. • Evaluate solutions, negotiate agreements and monitor service levels.

IT governance and risk management • Define and implement IT governance frameworks, policies and procedures. • Introduce clear KPIs for both operational stability and IT change delivery. • Monitor and mitigate risks related to technology systems, security and data protection.

Budget and resource management • Set and manage the IT budget, including forecasting and cost control. • Identify opportunities to optimise spend and improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in financial services, and demonstrate exceptional leadership in driving IT strategy, governance, and service delivery.

• Proven experience leading IT in a transforming or scaling organisation, ideally in a complex, regulated or technology-driven environment. • Strong knowledge of web architecture, Azure/AWS, distributed systems and integration patterns. • Broad technical background across infrastructure, systems development and cybersecurity. • Demonstrated ability to build and execute IT strategy, drive innovation and deliver results in a dynamic environment. • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. • Strategic mindset with a hands-on, solution-focused approach. • Strong project management skills and the ability to balance multiple initiatives at the same time.  •Bachelor’s or  Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
