Functieomschrijving

The (Senior) Data Engineer is responsible in developing data engineering pipelines and workflows, by translating business requirements into technical solutions with hands-on skills as well as advanced knowledge in data engineering and ETL process especially in relation to AI agent and AI workflow. You communicate with various stakeholders such as the Business units, marketing department, BI functions, support functions and advanced analytics team.

You will work closely with another data engineer in the team. Your work will be the same, but you will work for different divisions within Samsung.

Roles and responsibilities

Data Engineering

-          Collect and connect data from different sources according to a business's needs, use cases, potential exploitation and deployment, and technology possibilities: GCP, Azure, and local servers.

-          Model raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets, make it easier for business analysts and other stakeholders to view and understand data in DB

-          Apply various and automated transformations (ETL, ELT) to different data pieces to ensure they correspond to given tasks

removing inaccurate or corrupted data

o    aggregating data items into a summarized version

o    filtering information to get rid of irrelevant and duplicated data

o    manipulating database tables upon various needs

-          Perform (and Guide juniors) maintenance and troubleshooting activities for data engineering and BI tools.

Data infrastructure and governance

-          Data warehouse governance and access management

-          Recommend strategies to improve performance and capacity of BI tools.

-          Develop security and authentication standards for the department and users.

-          Maintain accurate and complete technical architecture documents.

-          Define BI standards, guidelines and best practices for business groups and technical teams.

Data Visualization Support

-          Support convert data into a suitable graphic format including - dashboards, graphs, charts, and reports using BI tools

-          Support automated/self-serving data visualization projects by building the foundation layer for dashboard reporting.

Stakeholder management

-          Collaborate with business owners, BI specialist, business analysts and data scientists to align business requirements with data

-          Map requirements and projects from stakeholders, including business divisions and Marketing Channels, and Marketing Strategy teams.

-          Establish collaboration with European and global teams working on projects as mentioned above.

-          Evangelize the data-driven marketing and its strategy to the stakeholders while communicating in a plain and intuitive language so that stakeholders easily follow even the sophisticated and technical concepts.

• Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Business Information Management, or an equivalent study
• 3+ years of experience working in Data engineering, data warehousing, BI, or Analytics
• Proven Technical Experience in ETL and relational data base management, and data modeling 
• Strong knowledge in the coding languages: using the following tools: Python, SQL and data toolings: Airflow, dbt
• Knowledge and skills in data engineering, API, and cloud computing (GCP, Azure, and Databricks)
• Skills in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker). Preferably PowerBI.
• English proficiency
• Experience with working with GIT and CI/CD, & Linux
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization
• Excellent networking, project management, and organizational skills
• Excellent Office software skills such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

Preferred qualifications

• Skills in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Web scraping are a huge plus.
• Experience with SQL performance tuning and E2E process optimization
• Experience with designing and implementing real-time data pipelines
• Experience in managing one’s own Github pages.
