Northpool B.V. is a commodity trading company with a strong focus on energy products. Northpool’s core business is trading European power combined with expertise and knowledge of a broader range of energy products such as gas, oil, coal, and emissions as all energy related products. To make it possible for our trading teams to beat the market, our complex systems must always work properly, fast, highly reliable and have 24/7 availability. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join our team!

GRASP THE OPPORTUNITY

The first thing you will notice when you walk into our office is the large number of screens. Being a trading company and trading energy products in a competitive market requires high-end IT solutions. Fast operating workstations and lots of data sources are automatically being processed by our IT systems, making it possible for the traders to act fast and responsively under continuously changing market circumstances.

On all these screens, you will see the information presented in dashboards built by our Data Engineers and Scientists, making it possible for the Traders to make the best decisions.
It goes without saying that it is very important that the systems, hardware, and software always work properly and when issues arise, they must be solved as quickly as possible. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you are the first one to act in the event of a malfunction.

We are looking for a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to design, manage, and optimize our hybrid infrastructure environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our systems while driving automation and scalability across our infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain a hybrid infrastructure environment leveraging Azure Local and on-premises systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation workflows using Ansible to streamline infrastructure deployment and updates.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform for provisioning and configuration management.
  • Manage and optimize containerized workloads using AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) and Docker.
  • Oversee backup, replication, and disaster recovery processes with a focus on Veeam solutions.
  • Monitor system health and performance using PRTG (and other monitoring tools as needed), ensuring high availability and quick incident response.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure compliance, scalability, and best practices across all environments.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive long-term reliability improvements.
  • Maintain documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures for consistency and knowledge sharing.

Your challenge:
The energy markets are competitive, highly dynamic, and operational 24/7. Trading decisions rely on large amounts of data from many data sources. The systems you maintain, develop and optimize are being pushed to the limit.

Your goal?
Providing a fast and highly reliable system and network solution suited for the most advanced energy trading applications and data pipelines, which are being deployed by your highly skilled colleagues striving to outperform the competitors with their models and tools.

WE ASK:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems in production environments.
  • Solid knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
