At Deep BV, we're on a mission to become a planet-proof and sustainable survey company. Deep's fleet of crewed and autonomous vessels work in projects across the world collecting hydrographic and geophysical data in various challenging environments. As the amount of data collected continues to grow, we need to look for smarter ways to process and handle our geospatial datasets. That is why we are now looking for an innovative software developer to join our company.

WHO WE LOOK FOR.

As a Python Software Developer at Deep BV, you will be part of a team that develops innovative internal solutions for hydrographic and geophysical survey data. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience writing clean, readable, and production-ready code. You'll help shape services that process vast amounts of geospatial data from projects around the world. Whether you're optimizing algorithms or brainstorming new solutions, your ideas and code will be help understand what lies beneath the waves (literally!)).

Responsibilities:

• • Implement software engineering best practices to grow our codebase into a scalable internal platform for processing hydrographic and geophysical data.
  • Participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Optimizing code for robustness and speed, ensuring efficient processing of large datasets.
  • Working closely with other team members to design and develop software solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Maintaining and updating existing software solutions and related documentation, ensuring that they are up to date and functioning correctly.
  • Providing technical support to colleagues as needed.
  • Incorporate security best practices throughout the development process.
  • Develop and integrate both frontend and backend.
  • Collaborate with and learn from experienced developers and domain experts.

WHAT WE ASK.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Some hands-on experience in Python development, this could be through professional work, internships, or substantial personal/university projects.

• Familiarity with Git for version control and collaboration.

• Interest or prior experience with geospatial or hydrographic data.

• Experience with databases (e.g., Azure SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).

• Comfortable working in a Linux environment.

• Interest in building and deploying applications, ideally with Docker and Flask (professional experience is a plus, not a must).

• Strong interest in AI, large language models, or computer vision - and a willingness to grow these skills on the job.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have but not essential.

• Knowledge of GIS/Geospatial data.

• Frontend development experience using React (bonus if integrated with data-heavy or visualization-based applications).

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.

• Experience handling large point cloud datasets or 3D datasets - including analyzing, storing, and managing them efficiently.
