Deze benchmark was AMD-territorium, maar de Alder Lake-chips maken daaraan op overtuigende wijze een einde. De complete browser is na 171 seconden gebruiksklaar op de Core i9 12900K, die het dichtst op de hielen wordt gezeten door zijn eigen kleine broertje: de i7 12700K. De Ryzen 9's weten zich wel tussen de i7 en de i5 te worstelen.
We draaien de AIDA64-benchmarksuite integraal. Daarin komen diverse soorten computeworkloads en encryptiemethodes voor. Waar mogelijk worden instructiesetuitbreidingen als SSE en AVX ingezet. Verder meet dit programma hoe snel SHA-3-hashes kunnen worden berekend. Het hele testparcours draaien we drie keer om eventuele variatie in resultaten op te vangen.

Compressie en hashing gaat de twaalfde generatie Core-processors goed af, maar in veel van de andere algoritmen doen de nieuwe chips het juist minder goed dan hun voorgangers. Dat is vrijwel volledig te wijten aan het wegvallen van AVX512-ondersteuning uit de 'snelle cores', om featureparity met de zuinige cores te bereiken. In deze specifieke workloads is dat nadelig, maar volgens Intel wegen de voordelen van de hybride architectuur veel zwaarder. Gezien de resultaten in alle overige benchmarks kunnen we de processorfabrikant daar moeilijk ongelijk in geven.
