De 15X990 is voorzien van een RTX 2070-gpu en die is niet nieuw. Sterker nog, de 2070 hebben we al in diverse laptops getest en dat maakt dat we goed kunnen vergelijken met andere laptops en dat we bovendien de invloed van de nieuwe cpu goed kunnen meten.

In Far Cry 5 staat de 15X990 prompt bovenaan de lijstjes van de benchmark op full-hd-resolutie. Op die resolutie worden de framerates beperkt door de snelheid van de processor en de 9980HK laat zien duidelijk sneller te zijn dan de 8750H-processors in veel gamelaptops. Op 4k-resolutie is de BTO nog altijd de vlotste RTX 2070-laptop, maar is een RTX 2080 sneller.

De nieuwe i9-processor laat ook onder langdurige belasting hogere kloksnelheden zien dan de i7-processors van de achtste generatie. De RTX 2070-gpu wordt bovendien niet eens al te hoog geklokt, de Asus GL704 klokt zijn gpu bijvoorbeeld hoger, maar is in de benchmarks niet sneller.

Tot slot moeten processor en videokaart natuurlijk wel gekoeld worden en hoge framerates blijken dan ook gepaard te gaan met de hoogste geluidsproductie die we tot nu toe bij een gamelaptop hebben gemeten. Kies je dus voor snelheid, dan is het ook verstandig te investeren in een koptelefoon die je goed afsluit van ventilatorgeluid.
