Tex: How did you get VE off the ground?
Wicked: Getting off the ground? Ohhh, hard one. A LOT of people decide that they are going to do a web site because it just seems easy (so some people think)...it is a TON of work, and hard work (but I love it). You have to have dedication, and do it because you like it. I honestly believe that if you don't really give a rat's ass about the stuff that you are posting about, "readers" can actually tell. Being consistent is also a VERY, VERY important thing, in getting a site to be known...if you update a lot one day, but then skip a day or two, people just seem to loose faith. I don't visit sites that just update whenever they feel like it. Finally, it takes time...lots of time. You have to realize that if you want to be known, you are going to be doing web stuff for a few years....just to get known. Very, very few seem to have the desire/capacity to actually stick around. I get, hell, like 5 - 10 "dude, I just opened this kick ass new gaming news site, can you post mention of it?" a week. I don't post mention of new sites (although I used to, a year or so ago), as most of these sites start out strong, but after 2 weeks - 1 month, they basically die off, once the person realizes that it is actually work. Plus, I tell them that VE is a Gaming News Site, not a New Gaming News site
