GamePC heeft een review geschreven over de Asus A7V, een moederbord geschikt voor socket A CPU's. Deze kaart onderscheid zich op een flink aantal manieren van de concurrentie: ATA/100, CPU voltage riser en als laatste de beroemde dipswitches. Hieronder een stukkie uit de review:
Overclocking is what sets the A7V away from any other KT-133 board on the market, with its ability to modify the processor multiplier, right on the motherboard. Worldwide, overclockers and tweakers have beenin a frenzy trying to figure out a way to overclock the new Socket-A Athlons like "Golden Fingers" devices allowed for Slot-A Athlons to be overclocked so well. AMD recently announced that in an effort to thwart re-markers, they would be fully multiplier locking all Socket-A processors. Of course, this flew right in the face of AMD's claim of "We will never multiplier-lock our chips" claim they made before the initial AMD Athlon launch.
Almost immediately after the announcement, the overclocking communities set out on a quest to figure out how to unlock the chips, and amazingly, have been successful thus far. Of course, the methods they use either make you solder pins to the motherboard, or rip off/add pieces from the top of your processor. Both methods of multiplier manipulation aren't for the weak of heart, which is where Asus's A7V fills the gap. Asus has already done the modifications internally to their board, allowing you to easily switch the processors multiplier through a set of dipswitches on the motherboard.
[...] Even though we've only taken a short glance at the board, we can easily say that the Asus A7V is the KT-133 platform to beat. Not even mentioning the overclocking aspects of the board, it's still the nicest Socket-A motherboard we've had the chance of testing thus far. It's got a ton of useful features that are sure to impress the most hardware users, and it simply performs better than the competetion. There's been so much hype around this board that we would have figured it to be mostly overkill, fortunately, the A7V lived up to every expectation.
