At DPG Online Services we are looking for interns in the field of Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Recommender Systems or Computer Vision.
Online Services is the part of DPG that represents the supply-demand, content and community platforms within DPG Media. Online Services brands include, among others, Tweakers.net, HardwareInfo, Autotrack, Gaspedaal, Independer, Nationale Vacaturebank, Ouders van Nu and VT Wonen. The brands help consumers to make informed decisions on tech, automotive, insurance, recruitment, home-deco and parenting.
This internship is open to BSc and MSc students who are enrolled in a Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related degree, and are looking to do an internship as a part of their degree.
Potential assignments include:
? Building a Recommender System for images from stock photography collections to recommend the best images for blog articles or job postings.
? Categorizing articles of content based on their text, e.g. the category of an article on Tweakers.net or HardwareInfo.
? Entity Recognition in Tweakers.net articles.
? Detecting skills in job postings.
? Suggesting or generating job titles based on job postings.
? Modelling reader behaviour across the various DPG websites.
? Privacy-preserving sentiment analysis.
? Job performance modelling based on time series: can we predict how well a job posting will do?
? Classifying what kind of job a job posting is about.
? We are also open to your own ideas.

About the team:
The Online Services Data Team currently consists of 9 data engineers, scientists and analysts and supports the different brands in their data activities. This includes building a state-of-the-art data and MLOps platform for them to use. Next to this, machine learning projects are executed from proof-of-concept to production phase. Examples of current and past projects include performance prediction of job vacancies, article labeling for contextual advertising and automatic bidding optimization.
Who are you
? You’re currently enrolled as a full-time student in AI, CS or DS (or similar).
? You like to work with big and messy data sets.
? You have some basic experience with Python.
? You have some familiarity with NLP.
? You can communicate well in either English, or Dutch.
? You are available for at least 5 months
