Anonymous dreigt overheidsgeheimen openbaar te maken na defacen Ussc.gov
Anonymous heeft zogenoemde 'warheads' gepubliceerd en deze versleutelde bestanden bevatten mogelijk overheidsgeheimen. De activistengroepering dreigt de komende tijd delen van de bestanden vrij te geven, zo heeft Anonymous na een defacement van Ussc.gov laten weten.
Anonymous is Operation Last Resort begonnen. De eerste actie betrof het defacen van de overheidssite Ussc.gov: de website van de United States Sentencing Commission. Dit is een onafhankelijke organisatie die richtlijnen opstelt voor strafvervolging. Naast een YouTube-video toonde de frontpage van de Ussc-site links naar negen bestanden, die elk genoemd zijn naar een rechter van de Supreme Court.
Anonymous claimt de afgelopen twee weken via meerdere lekken geïnfiltreerd te hebben in overheidssystemen en daarbij op geheimen gestuit te zijn 'die niet bedoeld zijn om publiek bekend te worden'. De negen bestanden zijn op grote schaal verspreid en zouden de overheidsinformatie bevatten. De komende tijd belooft de los-vaste groepering delen van de bestanden vrij te geven via de media, tenzij de Amerikaanse overheid bepaalde wetten gaat aanpassen en 'terugkeert naar proportionaliteit tussen straf en de daadwerkelijke schade, waarbij motieven worden meegewogen'.
Aanleiding voor de actie is de zelfmoord van internetactivist Aaron Swartz, die zich sterk inzette voor de vrijheid van informatie. Bij de geruchtmakende Jstor-zaak werd Swartz vervolgd voor het downloaden van circa vijf miljoen wetenschappelijke documenten, maar ook zijn er aanwijzingen dat hij banden met WikiLeaks had. Anonymous kraakte om deze reden eerder de site van MIT, het instituut waar Swartz de documenten van ontvreemd had.

Killed because he was forced into playing a game he could not win -- a twisted and distorted perversion of justice -- a game where the only winning move was not to play.
Anonymous immediately convened an emergency council to discuss our response to this tragedy. After much heavy-hearted discussion, the decision was upheld to engage the United States Department of Justice and its associated executive branches in a game of a similar nature, a game in which the only winning move is not to play.
Last year the Federal Bureau of Investigation revelled in porcine glee at its successful infiltration of certain elements of Anonymous. This infiltration was achieved through the use of the same tactics which lead to Aaron Swartz' death. It would not have been possible were it not for the power of federal prosecutors to thoroughly destroy the lives of any hacktivists they apprehend through the very real threat of highly disproportionate sentencing.
As a result of the FBI's infiltration and entrapment tactics, several more of our brethren now face similar disproportionate persecution, the balance of their lives hanging on the severely skewed scales of a broken justice system.
We have felt within our hearts a burning rage in reaction to these events, but we have not allowed ourselves to be drawn into a foolish and premature response. We have bidden our time, operating in the shadows, adapting our tactics and honing our abilities. We have allowed the FBI and its masters in government -- both the puppet and the shadow government that controls it -- to believe they had struck a crippling blow to our infrastructure, that they had demoralized us, paralyzed us with paranoia and fear. We have held our tongue and waited.
With Aaron's death we can wait no longer. The time has come to show the United States Department of Justice and its affiliates the true meaning of infiltration. The time has come to give this system a taste of its own medicine. The time has come for them to feel the helplessness and fear that comes with being forced into a game where the odds are stacked against them.
This website was chosen due to the symbolic nature of its purpose -- the federal sentencing guidelines which enable prosecutors to cheat citizens of their constitutionally-guaranteed right to a fair trial, by a jury of their peers -- the federal sentencing guidelines which are in clear violation of the 8th amendment protection against cruel and unusual punishments. There has been a lot of fuss recently in the technological media regarding such operations as Red October, the widespread use of vulnerable browsers and the availability of zero-day exploits for these browsers and their plugins. None of this comes of course as any surprise to us, but it is perhaps good that those within the information security industry are making the extent of these threats more widely understood.
Still there is nothing quite as educational as a well-conducted demonstration...
Through this websites and various others that will remain unnamed, we have been conducting our own infiltration. We did not restrict ourselves like the FBI to one high-profile compromise. We are far more ambitious, and far more capable. Over the last two weeks we have wound down this operation, removed all traces of leakware from the compromised systems, and taken down the injection apparatus used to detect and exploit vulnerable machines.
We have enough fissile material for multiple warheads. Today we are launching the first of these. Operation Last Resort has begun...

The contents are various and we won't ruin the speculation by revealing them. Suffice it to say, everyone has secrets, and some things are not meant to be public. At a regular interval commencing today, we will choose one media outlet and supply them with heavily redacted partial contents of the file. Any media outlets wishing to be eligible for this program must include within their reporting a means of secure communications.
We have not taken this action lightly, nor without consideration of the possible consequences. Should we be forced to reveal the trigger-key to this warhead, we understand that there will be collateral damage. We appreciate that many who work within the justice system believe in those principles that it has lost, corrupted, or abandoned, that they do not bear the full responsibility for the damages caused by their occupation.
It is our hope that this warhead need never be detonated.
However, in order for there to be a peaceful resolution to this crisis, certain things need to happen. There must be reform of outdated and poorly-envisioned legislation, written to be so broadly applied as to make a felony crime out of violation of terms of service, creating in effect vast swathes of crimes, and allowing for selective punishment. There must be reform of mandatory minimum sentencing. There must be a return to proportionality of punishment with respect to actual harm caused, and consideration of motive and mens rea. The inalienable right to a presumption of innocence and the recourse to trial and possibility of exoneration must be returned to its sacred status, and not gambled away by pre-trial bargaining in the face of overwhelming sentences, unaffordable justice and disfavourable odds. Laws must be upheld unselectively, and not used as a weapon of government to make examples of those it deems threatening to its power.
For good reason the statue of lady justice is blindfolded. No more should her innocence be besmirked, her scales tipped, nor her swordhand guided. Furthermore there must be a solemn commitment to freedom of the internet, this last great common space of humanity, and to the common ownership of information to further the common good.
We make this statement do not expect to be negotiated with; we do not desire to be negotiated with. We understand that due to the actions we take we exclude ourselves from the system within which solutions are found. There are others who serve that purpose, people far more respectable than us, people whose voices emerge from the light, and not the shadows. These voices are already making clear the reforms that have been necessary for some time, and are outright required now.
It is these people that the justice system, the government, and law enforcement must engage with. Their voices are already ringing strong with a chorus of determined resolution. We demand only that this chorus is not ignored. We demand the government does not make the mistake of hoping that time will dampen its ringing, that they can ride out this wave of determination, that business as usual can continue after a sufficient period of lip-service and back-patting.
Not this time. This time there will be change, or there will be chaos...

Het is prima dat je waakt over de vrijheden op internet, maar doe dat niet op een manier dat anderen daar last van hebben. Dat er best zaken veranderd kunnen worden kan -en wil- ik nog begrijpen, maar waarom moeten daarvoor altijd een chantagemiddel gebruikt worden?
Het defacen van een website en daarna dreigen dat je geheimen gaat openbaren vind ik niet meer neigen naar actievoeren maar naar crimineel gedrag.
Zoals het internet nu gereguleerd wordt, kan ik best mee leven, maar dat terzijde. Het is in mijn ogen erg kort door de bocht om de VS als grote agressor tegen het vrije woord op internet af te schilderen. In mijn ogen doet de VS niets anders dan alle andere landen: hun belangen verdedigen. Dat de VS toevallig een grote speler is op de entertainment-markt maat het ook niet vreemd dat ze op allerlei manieren proberen de 'piraterij' aan te pakken. Op andere gebieden doet de VS weinig anders dan andere grote machthebbers op internet: informatie verzamelen en schandalen proberen onder de pet te houden.
Als het puur over de vrije rechten op internet zou gaan, zou Anonymous ook aanvallen moeten uitvoeren in China, Rusland, Iran, Egypte of Noord-Korea, maar daarover hoor ik nauwelijks iets.
Eerlijk gezegd heb ik soms wel eens het idee dat Anonymous een groot hack-project is van een overheid. In dat project voelen sommige groepen hackers zich ook geroepen om mee te doen en op eigen houtje acties uit te voeren in landen waar politieke spanningen zijn of dreigen.
Het bevreemd mij eigenlijk dat op zo'n korte tijd hackers, scriptkiddies en defacers elkaar gevonden hebben en gecontroleerde acties uitvoeren en juist daarom kan ik mij niet aan de indruk onttrekken dat hier een of meer overheden achter zitten. Het zou mij zelfs niet eens verbazen als de deelnemers aan een Anonymous-project dat zelf ook niet eens weten of beseffen.

Zoveel is er niet opgestaan. Iedereen die iets op internet flikt kan zich anonymous noemen en zich voordoen als lid van een niet-bestaande organisatie. Maar tot nu toe heeft het weinig veranderd. Logisch ook, een paar gehackte websites en ddos-acties halen in de praktijk weinig uit. Ze moeten hoog nodig iets nieuws bedenken anders is de lol er binnenkort af. Veel meer dan een hoop praatjes komt er niet uit, en dat er mensen het niet eens zijn met de democratie/maatschappij is ook geen nieuws.

Goede inbreng van Peatsmoke! In de vorige eeuw maakten overheden elkaar ook het leven zuur door opstandige groeperingen in elkaars landen in het geheim te steunen. Een behoorlijk deel van de deelnemers aan die groeperingen had daar geen flauw idee van en zou soms ook niet zo gecharmeerd van de steun zijn geweest.
Mooi voorbeeld uit 1917: De Duitsers lieten Lenin per trein van Zwitserland via Duitsland naar Sint-Petersburg reizen. Lenin kreeg geld mee om zijn revolutie te organiseren en zo chaos in Rusland te vergroten. In maart 1918 sloten Rusland en Duitsland vrede. Hierdoor hadden de Duitsers een front minder.

Denk daarbij bijvoorbeeld aan de Mark Rutte chantage die hij al een aantal jaar verkondigt en met hem steeds meer politici, waaronder ook Buma van het CDA. 'Iedereen werkt of leert.' Daartussen is er niets wat je als burger nuttig kan of mag doen. Ja er is de sabbatical, maar daar betaal je zelf voor.
Denk hoe langdurig werklozen gedwongen worden een vorm van slavenarbeid te accepteren door papiertjes te prikken, in oranje hestjes, op straffe van korting of stopzetting van een uitkering. Daar is volstrekt geen sprake van enige vrijheid, want je zult en moet belasting betalen en meegaan in Het Systeem.
De Nederlandse overheid lijkt in het bijzonder zich over te geven aan een dergelijke moraal. 'Iedereen doet mee' voor Buma betekent niet zo zeer dat een gehandicapte niet met de nek wordt aangekeken in de maatschappij en geïsoleerd in een grot woont zogezegd, maar dat die persoon werk vind, hoe onbelangrijk ook en al zou die maar een euro per maand aan belasting kunnen afdragen, dan is het 't waard.
De overheid chanteert ons op allerlei vlakken en doet dat uit onze collectieve naam. Maar dat vergoelijkt in mijn ogen niet het gedrag waar ze zichzelf toestemming voor geven. Bijvoorbeeld hoe de sociale recherche bij ouderen komt controleren om te zien of ze niet stiekum samenwonen maar toch twee volledige AOW's ontvangen.
De overheid kent steeds meer systemen en technologien om burgers te profileren, scannen, registreren en controleren. Lang leven het socialisme!

En buiten draait een molen die het water onzer principes over de dijk de polder in pompt.
Ik zie als burger steeds minder inspraak en mogelijkheden tot structureel verzet. Politiek is een proces dat vooral zichzelf van belang maakt. Als ik zie hoe te weinig we doen om ons klimaat te redden, hoe slecht we subsidies en structurele bewegingen richting fotovoltaïsche energie regelen, dan wordt het duidelijk dat politiek vaak geen oplossingen kan verzinnen.
Burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid en zo nodig, chantage zijn legitieme manieren voor mensen om druk uit te oefenen. De overheid doet het ons aan, en wij mogen ons verzetten en verdedigen.

Ha, hier zitten de TECHNISCHE mensen, en om het kort te houden, hoe en wat je wijsgemaakt wordt door een kleine groep mensen, die keer op keer "DE TECHNIEK" willen hinderen, saboteren, en nog meer andere op wettelijke basis hinderlijke aanpassingen proberen door te drukken! Je probeert iets tegen me in te brengen wat totaal niets te maken heeft met wat ik gezegd heb. Je verhaal slaat dan ook kant noch wal.
Ik heb je artikel gelezen, een stukje geschiedenis over hoe de Amerikaanse mediaindustrie niet wil innoveren maar elke bedreiging voor hun business probeert te elimineren door flink te lobbyen en druk op de overheid uit te oefenen. Wat heeft dat alles met dit artikel (tweakers) te maken? De aanval is gericht op de overheid zelf die zich laat corrupteren, niet over de copyrightindustrie die de druk uitoefent.

De reden dat Swartz vervolgt wordt is gelegen in dat uiterste belangrijke woordje 'valorisatie'.
Universiteiten en de daaraan verbonden wetenschappers hebben aandeel in de open markt economie doordat zij bezig zijn van dag tot dag met onderzoek dat leidt tot patenten. Via de verkoop or het licenseren van patenten krijgen universiteiten inkomsten voor onderzoek.
Wanneer wetenschappelijke publicaties gestolen worden is dat een aanval op hun winstgevendheid, direct en indirect. Kennis, zo blijkt, is voor degenen die er voor betalen, niet voor burgers met een interesse in wetenschap of die kennis willen vergaren,
Mensen die deze situatie doorbreken worden hard aangepakt en onder zware druk gezet. Het tornen aan deze status quo rond valorisatie kan niet worden getolereerd omdat het knaagt aan de fundamenten van de kennis economische structuren zelf.

3) Nobody on IRC can vouch for the credibility of those leading this operation. Anonymous is one thing but when your fellow anons are completly clueless who you are and where you came from when you bust out the gates with an operation this scope is quiet suspicious.
4) The same day literally hours before this release Department of Homeland security named Cyber threats a severe issue and is trying to use this threat to enact SOPA style laws with executive order. 5) This paints all anons as hacktivists, something anyone with a brain knows it a complete media machine lie to discredit ACTIVISTS under the same banner.
6) A youtube acocunt claiming/admitting to hacking a government site would not be permitted to STILL be active (Note: It is still up: Day 6). It would be ripped down as soon as the first fed hit the video after the hack. YET it;s still up, with no penalty and everyone ignores this fact.
7) ALL credible sources/anon cells to date have no idea who is running this operation. It came out of thin air and is using old anon operations data claiming its new.
Make up your own mind but you know where we stand. We wont be downloading "warheads" or supporting this is any way as we truly believe this will bite those who participate in the ass. As it labels us all terrorists looking for "CHAOS" and if you dont think cyber authorities will take this to the cleaners, you're still a noob.
