Er is een nieuwe ontwikkelversie van Dropbox verschenen. Dropbox is een online-opslagdienst die het mogelijk maakt om bestanden tussen verschillende computers te synchroniseren. Daarnaast kunnen bestanden en fotoalbums worden gedeeld met mensen die geen Dropbox-account hebben. Clients zijn beschikbaar voor Windows, Linux, OS X, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry en Windows Mobile.

Een gratis account geeft toegang tot 2GB opslag, met de mogelijkheid dat uit te breiden door nieuwe gebruikers aan te dragen. Voor tien, twintig of vijftig dollar per maand is dat respectievelijk 100, 200 of 500GB. In die versie 1.7.5 treffen we onder andere een nieuw pop-up-scherm aan, dat vanuit de systemtray informatie over belangrijke gebeurtenissen kan geven.

Introducing a shiny new feature: a new tray popup that combines the old tray menu features with a timeline of the most important sharing events in your Dropbox. For instance, if someone shares a link with you, you can now see it immediately! Moreover, if someone shares a folder with you, you can now accept or decline the invitation directly from your desktop. Not only are you notified of these events in real time, but you can easily get to them later. Also, files recently edited are made available so you can easily view or share them.

This is a brand new feature and we're just getting started! As such, we're looking for your feedback (and bugs!) while we iron things out.

Note: You will have to restart Finder for the changes to take effect. (killall Finder in a Terminal should do the trick).

Fixes in 1.7.5

• Reintroduce the "Recently Changed" feature to the new Tray Popup.
• Various performance improvements in the Tray Popup feature.
• Other small fixes.

Here are a few things you should know:

• This feature is not yet localized in languages other than English.
• It is only enabled on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and above, and on Windows XP and above.
• It is not yet enabled on Linux.
