Er is een nieuwe versie van Parted Magic beschikbaar gekomen. Deze Linux-distributie is specifiek bedoeld om harde schijven te partitioneren. Naast GParted en Parted bevat het een aantal handige tools, waaronder Partition Image, TestDisk, TrueCrypt, G4L, SuperGrubDisk en ddrescue. De software wordt onder de gpl-licentie uitgebracht en is in verschillende uitvoeringen verkrijgbaar. Zo zijn er een live-cd, een pxe-uitvoering en een versie die vanaf een usb-stick kan worden gebruikt. Parted Magic kan overweg met ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4 en xfs. De release notes voor deze uitgave zien er als volgt uit:

Minor bug fix release with some program updates. The DFS using CIFS issue has been fixed. SpaceFM opens to /root again instead of /. Most of the panel menu items have more generic names. People that have never used Linux before are having a hard time figuring out what a mc is, a lshw, or an xfburn. :P The double unmount issue with GParted has been resolved. After adding Samba the size of Parted Magic increased enough to need an increase in the vmalloc kernel command line entry. This caused direct ISO booting to fail. “vmalloc=256MiB” is now “vmalloc=288MiB”. Please update your GRUB configuration if this applies. A few more entries were added to /root/.xinitrc to further stop power management.

New features: “Erase MBR” option added to “Erase Disk”, NVIDIA option added to “Fail Safe” boot menu. This blacklists nouveau and loads the nvidia kernel module after the NVIDIA packages are installed.
