Team Leader Systems and Network

We are looking for a Team Leader Systems and Networks to provide Greenpeace globally and the Greenpeace International office with robust, up-to-date networks and systems and carry out day to day system and network administration tasks in order to allow the organisation to make optimal use of IT systems.

Job Description

• Line management of a team of System & Network Engineers in such a way they carry out the appropriate tasks alongside the preferred prioritization to provide excellent services to the organization
• Ensure and enhance service delivery and admin support on the delivered services so that users will be able to make optimal use of them
• Ensure networks and systems are monitored appropriately to signal issues prematurely so they can be solve before causing problems
• Signal the need for new services and or changes to the existing services in order to extend and improve the services we offer
• Carry out change and project management for network and servers so that changes will not disrupt the offered services and provide the expected added value
• Offer advice and support rollout of new offices in order to provide them with a standard IT environment and allow for and easy startup from an IT perspective
• Work together with the team on day to day system and network administration tasks
• Negotiate contracts with vendors to get the services we need for the best price and terms and conditions
• Prepare budgets as input for the departmental budget in order to create a detailed budget for the IT department

Job Requirements

• B.Sc. or University degree relevant to Systems and Network engineering (e.g. Computer Science, Electronics) and/or comparable work experience/certification
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a team
• Hands-on system administration experience in a mid size organization (500-1500 users)
• In-depth knowledge of Linux, Windows, web technology, Database Management Systems, TCP/IP networks, LDAP, Samba, e-mail (postfix, sendmail)
• Hands-on experience with network administration, performance and security
• Excellent knowledge of firewalls, (SSL)VPN, routers, switches, QoS and IP telephony (Asterisk)
• Experience with virtualization and/or server based computing and Thin Clients would be added value
• Ability to create or identify technology trends for consideration by the organization
• Experience of working in an international and culturally diverse environment
• Fluent in English, both verbal and written and preferably one other language
