IT Infrastructure is the operational IT department within the Rabobank International organisation. The department controls business IT processes, and services the total IT Infrastructure of the Rabobank International organisation. IT Infrastructure is organised regionally with the main regional centres located in Utrecht, London, Sydney, Singapore and New York. The majority of the employees are located in London and Utrecht. Although IT Infrastructure has a global focus, it uses regional organisations to service the business locally. The RI/NL IT Infrastructure group is located in Utrecht; their main focus is to service the Rabobank International and other Wholesale businesses in Utrecht. The IT Infrastructure groups in Utrecht and London are working closely together, looking from outside, London and Utrecht should be perceived as one virtual team.

Currently, IT Infrastructure has a vacancy for a SQLServer (Sybase) database administrator within IT Infrastructure in Utrecht.

The DBA will be part of the Database Team within the Data Centre Operations group. The Database Team consists of 10 people across London and Utrecht, plus a hands-on team leader. The Data Centre – Technical Services Group is responsible for installing, operating, managing and maintaining the application servers for the Wholesale Businesses of Rabobank.

Job Description

The primary responsibility will be to provide technical support across a multi-platform infrastructure (Windows 2003, Linux and Sun Solaris). Other tasks you will be involved with are writing and installing scripts for database administrating, such as backups and capacity monitoring. Seventy percent of the time is working with SQLServer, the rest of the time is spend on Sybase databases.

Job Requirements

Essential Technical Skills:

• 5 years or more MS SQLServer and/or Sybase DBA experience;
• Extensive MS SQL product knowledge (at least SQL Server 2005);
• Sybase product knowledge (at least Sybase 12.5);
• Building servers and databases to global standards;
• Write technical documents;
• Unix Shell scripting;
• Extensive performance & tuning experience;
• An understanding of fault-finding database client connectivity;
• An understanding of database security and auditing;
• An understanding of network, concurrent access and locking issues;
• An understanding of database logging and recovery and how to recover from the various failure scenarios.

Desirable Technical Skills:

• Experience performing server consolidation;
• Administration of databases in a Storage Area Network environment;
• Exposure to Oracle.
